Emma Myers stepped out in New York City on Tuesday, while promoting Netflix’s “Wednesday” Season Two, wearing a school-uniform-coded look grounded in glossy, block-heeled Mary Janes.
The shoes — a hybrid of patent and matte black textures — featured a rounded toe, flared heel and a slim strap across the instep, secured with a small silver buckle. A petite bow adorned the vamp, adding a doll-like finish to the sculptural silhouette.
The heels were paired with vibrant ribbed knee socks in bright red, which created a stark contrast against the shine of the leather, emphasizing the shoe’s curved construction.

This isn’t the first time Myers has turned to strong footwear to frame a high-concept look. At the “Wednesday” Season Two premiere in London at the end of July, she styled a Gothic red lace dress with ruby Jimmy Choo Etana sandals, whose squared toe and mirror finish delivered a dose of haunted glamour. But the patent Mary Janes worn in New York this week signal a shift toward something cheekier — rooted more in subverted prep than spooky romance.
Myers’ full look came from Thom Browne’s spring 2025 collection, which leaned into the brand’s signature shrunken tailoring and collegiate references. She layered a red blazer over a white pleated skirt, white button-down and a striped necktie — finishing the look with oversized red sunglasses and softly tousled hair. The visible red-white grosgrain trim under the hem and at the blazer’s side vent added a wink of sporty polish to the ensemble.
The “Wednesday” star is not alone in tapping the socks-and-heels formula, either. Simone Ashley recently wore pointed Mary Janes with black knee socks while filming “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” while Ciara has styled Louboutin pumps with crisp white socks on multiple “Today Show” appearances.
For Myers, the bold socks and glossy heel offered a fresh punctuation mark — finishing a uniform look that felt equal parts costume, commentary and character study.
