Anne Hathaway championed Alessandro Michele‘s fresh take on the iconic Valentino Garavani Rockstud heel at “The Devil Wears Prada 2” Tokyo premiere on Monday.
Hathaway, who returns as Andy Sachs in the anticipated sequel to the 2006 film about an assistant to a fashion magazine editor in chief, showcased a shoe style from Michele’s pre-fall 2026 collection. The creative director revived the famous Valentino shoe style — defined by pyramid-shaped studs inspired by Roman architecture — in several modern updates. The style worn by Hathaway features a slightly elongated toe with a square gold hardware tip; it’s also an ultra-strappy heel with a caged aesthetic, and a thin cut out at the vamp further defines the look.
For the Tokyo premiere, Hathaway’s Rockstud shoes paired with a strapless dress from Valentino’s haute couture “Specula Mundi” collection; colored in black, white and a splash of on-theme red, the design featured a ruffled skirt in a structured cocoon shape.

It’s not exactly a surprise that Hathaway has worn a Rockstud style during the press tour, given that a Rockstud pump was prominently featured in a teaser trailer for “The Devil Wears Prada 2” released in November — and then the brand began posting about Rockstud styles available to shop, and not much later Michele presented his pre-fall collection featuring reinventions of the look.
Hathaway also has a longstanding relationship with the brand — she’s worn many Valentino looks through the years and she maintained a friendship with the late designer. The actress honored Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti with the John B. Fairchild Honor at the 2025 WWD Honors.
As expected of the press tour, Hathaway and costar Meryl Streep have been delivering high fashion looks while promoting “The Devil Wears Prada 2” around the world, and that extends to their shoes. Hathaway wore a pair of dramatic thigh-high boots from Stella McCartney in Mexico City, in addition to Schiaparelli pumps with a keyhole cutout.
