Addison Rae made an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Thursday and brought along a pair of custom gold mules from Nou for the journey. She performed a medley of her songs “Diet Pepsi” and “New York,” both of which are featured on her debut album, “Addison.”
For the interview and performance, Rae displayed a pair of mules with a minimalist construction: the silhouette included a flared heel, a rounded toe and a light gold toe strap with a butterfly-like shape; the strap was affixed with a gleaming rounded jewel at the center.
Founded by Alexia Ioannou, the brand Nou offers vintage and “future vintage” products. The founder and designer told WWD exclusively, “Addison has been such a dream to work with, as has her stylist, Dara [Allen]. She’s truly one of our most engaged and loyal supporters, and as a genuine shoe collector, collaborating with her in a deeper way felt completely natural. Taking the next step of creating one-of-a-kind pieces for her is such an authentic extension of who she is and who we are as a brand.”

The shoes were created within a quick turnaround, WWD learned. “For her performance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,’ we created this custom pair in Portugal in just two weeks’ time. They’re crafted from fine metallic leather and adorned with a specialty Italian gemstone — both luxurious yet deeply personal materials that embody the idea of a shoe as an heirloom object to complement the meaningful history of her dress.”
Ioannou added, “It was an incredible experience bringing this vision to life for her, and we’re grateful to continue building such a special relationship.”
Rae’s custom shoes aligned with an eye-catching gown, which was a rich hue of gold and featured tiers of fringe. Sourced from the vintage boutique The Way We Wore, owned by Doris Raymond, the garment was once owned by burlesque star Gypsy Rose Lee.
From silver to gold, metallics have proven their staying power in footwear lately, with celebrity fans of the style including Zendaya in Louis Vuitton pumps and Rachel Zegler in strappy Jimmy Choo sandals.
Proving the versatility of the shoes, Rae also wore the gold peep-toe mules on the same day in New York City with an outfit evoking a Y2K energy, including a yellow scoop-neck top with colorful bedazzling and patterned ultra mini shorts. Seemingly a fan of exploring this color family lately, Rae showcased a yellow sunflower-patterned spring 2012 Rodarte dress inspired by Van Gogh with beige Christian Louboutin pumps at the Grammy Museum L.A. Live event in August.
No stranger to fashion, the up-and-coming musician partnered with Lucky Brand to create her own jeans, the Addison Ultra Low Rise Flare, which launched in August and reinterpreted an archival early 2000s look by the denim brand.
