DUBAI — Tabitha Simmons landed in Dubai on Wednesday to launch a capsule collection of her Leticia sandal in five shimmery shades. Available only in the Middle East, it’s an interpretation of the strappy, chunky style.
“I love glitter, it’s like creating a fairy tale,” said the designer while visiting her pop-up shop at Level Shoe District in the sprawling Dubai Mall. “Whenever I have a shoe that works, I do it in glitter. Somehow when you do something in metallic, it just feels very special.”
The Leticia has been a strong seller for the brand. “You can wear it in winter in tights or here in this climate. The world is much more global. Winter doesn’t mean winter boots and skiing. It can mean different shoes depending where you are in the world,” she said.
The designer reported strong sales through Level. “This is my first trip here and it’s clear just how very global Dubai is. I keep seeing British people everywhere,” she said.

She said a stand-alone shop is probably the next step for her business.
“I’m not sure whether I would want it to be in New York or London,” she said. “It would be a really tough decision.”
