Boot Barn VP of Marketing Isha Nicole On Creating a Supportive Work Environment: Women Who Rock

Isha Nicole, Senior VP of marketing at Boot Barn, discusses her leadership style and empowering employees at work.

“A good leader inspires, empowers, and challenges their team. A good leader is not solely concerned with executing a task at hand but is also invested in each team member’s personal and professional growth, whether that be within their own organization or elsewhere,” said Isha Nicole, Senior VP of marketing at Boot Barn.

The executive is using that ethos for her own leadership style in her current position by connecting with her team on a personal level.

“It’s so important to recognize that the people on your team are human first… recognizing that everyone on the team has realities, commitments, and lives outside of work. For example, allowing flexibility so that mothers can find the balance of thriving in their careers while raising the next generation. My goal is to create an environment where my team works with me, not for me.”

“All these practices help combat gender bias and empower talent,” she said. “I have never worked in an environment where I felt like being a female was a hindrance for my growth. So, creating and maintaining that safe and supportive environment comes second nature to me. It starts by providing equal opportunities for career development, mentorship, equal pay, an empowered work environment, and flexible working options.”
