As senior vice president at consumer insights firm Circana, Sarah Bloch is a master at tracking fashion and footwear trends. But when it comes to ensuring career growth, she recommends female leaders monitor other trends as well.
“In today’s environment, it’s important to develop the ability to think critically and anticipate future trends to drive organizational success,” Bloch said. “Tied to that is adaptability, so you can pivot to meet those trends. Adaptability will give you more opportunities and allow you to be more effective in your role.”
In her nearly 30 years in the shoe business, Bloch has faced immense change, including navigating multiple company mergers and acquisitions. And she’s gathered an unusually broad view of the industry through Circana’s partnerships with countless brands and retailers.

She’s put that valuable knowledge to good use mentoring and supporting future leaders as a member of the advisory board for Two Ten Footwear Foundation’s Women in the Footwear Industry community. “One of the reasons I am so passionate and devote my time to [WIFI] is to offer my experiences, resources and network to others,” said Bloch. “For many years in my career, I lacked confidence and I know that mentoring can help women foster self-esteem.”
Bloch added that in her professional life, she strives to create an inclusive environment for the women around her, where they can feel valued and heard. “I’m most proud when I see people grow and evolve and when I have the ability to reward and promote them for their efforts,” she said.
