The popular Arizona style, one of the brand’s most recognizable designs, was only the third model to be introduced, with Karl Birkenstock debuting the silhouette in 1973. Making use of Italian nylon, this new version of the shoe showcases enduring craftsmanship as well as avant-garde technology. The material is meant to guarantee durability — the Nylon straps are wadded in addition to being lined with microfiber, making for a particularly soft feeling for the wearer. A hook and loop closure allows for an adjustable fit catering to both wide and narrow sizes. One of the key design differences is also the shoe’s magnified proportions.

Complementing Birkenstock’s anatomically shaped footbed wrapped in nappa leather, the Arizona CosNy is available in a range of colors — black, light blue, beige, orange and burgundy are all options. The shoes are crafted in the company’s German workshop.

When it comes to its brick-and-mortar presence, Birkenstock has been expanding — thus far in 2025, the German brand opened new stores in Nashville, London and Paris. In a major Birkenstock milestone, the brand honored 250 years of shoemaking in 2024 with the release of the limited-edition Kyoto Tradition sandal. Also in 2024, Birkenstock teamed up again with Lingua Franca to revive the Arizona “Give a Damn” sandal, with 10% of proceeds going to Surfrider Foundation.
