After designing Beyonce’s striking leather jacket with gold metal military details for Super Bowl 50, will Dean and Dan Caten from Dsquared2 create another showstopper? The twin Canadian brothers are designing the Team Canada outfit for the opening ceremonies of the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio de Janiero.
Dsquared2 will reveal the outfit in April, but the designers clued WWD in. “The opening ceremony look is made with our passion for our birth country mixed with the energetic spirit of Dsquared2,” said Dan and Dean in a joint statement. “We aimed for elegant functionality but we also wanted the uniforms to have an unexpected Dsquared2 edge. We mixed those ideas with vintage athletic details and sartorial finishes.”
Hudson’s Bay Co., based in Toronto, is sponsoring the Team Canada outfits. “We want them to feel strong and confident as they march into the stadium and we are excited that the Dsquared2-designed look will give them that extra boost of Canadian cool,” said Liz Rodbell, president of HBC.
