LONDON – Royal College of Art staged its MA show on Thursday evening at the Averard Hotel in West London.
Held at a 19th century house, 40 men’s wear, women’s wear, knitwear, footwear and accessories students showcased looks that spanned from arty to creative.
Oversize proportion was a common theme for students. Men’s wear student Shinhwan Kim showed roomy deconstructed trousers while the same oversized silhouette was seen on cuffed pink trousers paired with a cropped white bomber jacket by men’s wear student Kirstie Eells. Women’s wear student Hyun Oh created billowy knit trousers paired with a neon green sweater.
Women’s wear student and Prix de Public Hyeres Festival 2016 winner Amanda Svart showcased a dramatic floor-grazing coat with roomy trousers in a soft pink hue while women’s wear student Sophie Schmidt showed a conceptual black floor-sweeping sheer gown with a high slit.
Meanwhile men’s wear students Per Götesson and Luke Stevens will also be presenting with Fashion East, which takes place on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.. Götesson joins the Fashion East Man lineup with RCA alumna Fengchen Wang. Götesson showed baggy oversize denim jean overalls with a white fitted shirt while Stevens paired a sheer see-through shirt with shiny aluminum-foil-like trousers.
