Pinstripe was one of the biggest trends on the 2025 Met Gala red carpet.
A hallmark of classic suiting, pinstripes are referenced in the Costume Institute’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” exhibition, which is the theme of this year’s gala. The exhibition shows how pinstripes can be reimagined to reflect both heritage and modern creativity in Black tailoring. Pinstripes are part of the Black dandyism and were often seen in jazz-era zoot suits as well as in modern red carpet looks.
At the 2025 Met Gala, Alicia Keys, Zuri Hall, Savannah James, Sabrina Carpenter, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Teyana Taylor and Emma Chamberlain were some of the attendees to embrace the pinstripe trend. Here, WWD takes a closer look at their outfits.
