Indonesian hospitality group PTT Family and acclaimed Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto are teaming up on a new multipurpose dining and retail complex set to open in one of Hong Kong’s hottest neighborhoods.
The 8,000-square-foot development, called “Potato Head Hong Kong,” is slated to open next month. It will house several retail and dining concepts including a store selling artisanal Indonesian items and a restaurant helmed by chef Antoine Audran. The development also features a wood-paneled Music Room that will host disco nights, DJ gigs and other events.
The interiors will incorporate Fujimoto’s “signature metal frame structures,” hanging plant boxes, custom Indonesian furniture and mid-century antiques, said PTT Family, which runs “Potato Head Folk” in Singapore and the “Potato Head Beach Club” and Katamama hotel in Bali.
The group offered a somewhat cryptic response on a query about its quirky branding strategy: “Potato Head is a name that’s fun and memorable — [two] things we are too. And the origin is something we will keep to ourselves,” PTT Family said via spokeswoman.
