Few TV characters have retained their fashion influence the way that Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw has.
Parker, who turns 60 today, played the beloved character from the hit HBO show “Sex and the City” from 1998 to 2004, creating a character that has remained in the cultural lexicon for her iconic style thanks to costume designer Patricia Field, her endless collection of designer shoes and her many memorable quotes (“Wait, I lost my Choo!”).
Her character’s fashion icon status in turn made Parker’s own style highly regarded as many saw the two’s style overlap in a sense. Parker, like her character, doesn’t shy away from the dramatic designer gown (see Parker’s Met Gala red carpet looks as evidence) and shares her inclination for heels by launching her own label, SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker in 2014.
While Parker’s style is her own, she’s no stranger to paying homage to her iconic character. In September 2019, the actress attended the New York City Ballet Fall Fashion Gala dressed in a voluminous hot pink Zac Posen gown paired with mismatched gold and pink heels from her own shoe line, referencing a highly regarded scene in “Sex and the City” where Bradshaw wore mismatched pink and blue Christian Louboutin heels.
Last February, Parker was among the celebrity guests at the Fendi fall 2025 fashion show during Milan Fashion Week, wearing the Fendi Baguette bag, which was made famous in “Sex and the City.”
In celebration of the actress’ 60th birthday today, WWD rounds up some of Sarah Jessica Parker’s most memorable fashion moments through the years.
