BIRTHDAYS AND LINGERIE: Amid a string of parties celebrating her birthday and the same week she is chairing the Houston Museum of Fine Arts Grand Gala, Lynn Wyatt still managed to host a party Tuesday evening at her home in honor of Texas’ first La Perla store at the Houston Galleria.
In her speech thanking her guests for coming, Wyatt said to laughter, “Years ago when I was in Rome my friends were very excited about this store called La Perla and I thought that it was a jewelry store that specialized in pearls. But in fact it is a jewel of luxurious intimate apparel, and I’m glad that La Perla chose to grace our city.”
Now she’s on to arranging seating for the MFA ball on Friday, which is only the latest in a yearlong stream of festivities honoring her birthday last July.
“Everybody is giving me birthday parties all over the world,” Wyatt said. “It’s my big 8-0 so I’ve been celebrating since January. I said, ‘If somebody gives me an ice cream cone I’ll put a candle on it and make a wish.’”
