Isa Tapia Branching Out to Handbags

ISA BAG: Shoe designer Isamir Tapia of Isa Tapia is adding bags to her sexy and funky line of contemporary footwear. The designer felt there was a void in the market for “regular” size handbags as she found everything to be either really big or teeny tiny. She also wanted to address the handbag conundrum of late: where to put all those gadgets? The answer comes in five key shapes — satchel, shopper tote, shoulder bag, clutch and pouch with pockets and compartments to fit all of your tech needs all made from Italian leathers featuring a croc-embossed style. The hardware, a half-octagon shape, was inspired by a vintage bracelet the designer found while traveling in Europe. The bags retail from $495 to $1,095 and will be carried at Kirna Zabête, among other stores, come fall.
