NEW DOLL: At any age, when a new Barbie doll drops, nostalgia kicks in.
Soccer fans around the world now have the chance to bring home the champion England player Chloe Kelly.
Barbie is kicking off International Women’s Day by releasing Kelly’s very own mini-me, the first-ever England footballer to receive this honor.
The Barbie brand is capitalizing on women reaching new heights, like the Lioness herself, decked out in her number 18 white Arsenal jersey and long blond ponytail pulled back with a royal blue headband. Kelly’s doll is almost an exact replica — if only it could score the game-winning goal in not one, but two major international finals.
“To have my own one-of-a-kind Barbie doll is something I’m incredibly proud of. Growing up, I dreamed about winning trophies and big moments in football, but I never imagined a different kind of milestone like this,” said the soccer champion.

The brand has been busy recruiting its own iconic global dream team full of female role models who are pushing boundaries and celebrating the achievements of female firsts.
Athletes like Serena Williams with 23 Grand Slam singles titles; Kellie Gerardi, a research astronaut, and Regina Sirvent Alvarado, a professional race car driver in Mexico, have all been honored with their own dolls.
Inspiring young women since 1959, Barbie has always been an icon for the next generation to look up to.
As one of these idols, Chloe Kelly said: “I hope it shows young girls that they can grow up playing with Barbie dolls and with footballs, and that they don’t have to choose just one version of who they want to be. You can love it all.”
