Clear, the boutique trade show intended to feature up-and-coming, high-end accessories resources, is celebrating its second edition with a few changes.
The event, organized by ENK International, has pushed back its dates and moved to a new location to be more accessible to shoppers. Clear will now be held concurrently with Coterie, from Sept. 19 to 21, and will occupy a specially constructed tent next door to Pier 94. For the first edition, Clear was held during New York Fashion Week at Gotham Hall at 1356 Broadway, down the street from the Bryant Park tents.
“It’s an evolving show,” said Elyse Kroll, executive director of ENK International. “We thought the last event was successful, but we saw opportunities for improvement, which is why we decided to change the time it was going to be held and the venue. With the way we have it planned now, we believe it will be incredibly convenient to retailers so they are not running all over town.”
Clear will continue to be an edited show; some 20 vendors are expected to display their wares.
Vendors include Italian fine leather glove maker Gnerre; New York footwear designer Courtney Crawford; Italian milliner Reinhard Plank; jeweler Elia Stone, and Brazilian footwear maker Francesca Giobbi, all making their second appearance at the event.
Newcomers to the show will range from British handbag and luggage designer Zufi Alexander to Colette Malouf, who will present her Black Label line of hair accessories, featuring gold and semiprecious stones.
“I won’t be doing a presentation that is typical to other trade shows,” said Malouf, whose items will open at $450 wholesale. “I think this show is more about having different items that are very luxurious, so I’m focusing on my Black Label pieces. I have two collections, including one that is inspired by Kyoto and another that is focused on island brights.”
Lovechild, the nine-month-old, New York jewelry company cofounded by Jessica Johnson and Alessandra Meyer-Wolden, will feature gold and silver items accented with diamonds. Johnson said many of the styles are based on current world issues.
“We have some dog tags with cutouts of peace signs, as well as some hearts on items like rings,” said Johnson, who added that Lovechild’s silver designs will open at $25 wholesale, and the gold pieces will start at $55. “We’re excited to do the show because it aims to have a very intimate atmosphere and to focus on some of the best vendors from around the world. We hope we will meet new retailers who are national or international.”

Kroll said when ENK reviewed its list of potential candidates for the upcoming show, it was important that the vendors were a good fit for Clear.
“One of the things we are trying to do with this show is elevate accessories,” Kroll said. “We want to introduce new and special items with a distinct point of view. I think this show has a good mix, so we can’t wait to see what happens.”
