NEW YORK — Gen Art will present its Fresh Faces in Fashion Show, now in its 12th year, here on Sept. 8, featuring 12 up-and-comers in women’s wear, men’s wear and accessories design.
This season’s show, sponsored by Motorola, will have a “fashion revival” theme, complete with entertainment from a local gospel choir. It will be held at the Manhattan Center, beginning with an accessories pre-reception at 6 p.m. and the runway presentation at 7 p.m.
In women’s wear, the designers include Bruno Grizzo, a Brazilian who moved here in 1998 after working in Paris for Lanvin; Sunshine & Shadow, based here; designer Lily Raskind, in her fourth season; Mischen; Canadian designer Carla Knapp, who studied at Parson’s and launched her own line after leaving her position as creative director at Paper Denim & Cloth; Felder Felder, a London team of identical twin sisters, Daniela and Annette Felder, now in their sophomore year; Ong designer Leong Ong, who was a senior designer at Ralph Lauren, and April, May, designed by Paris-based Diane Goldstein Sitbon.
In the men’s wear area, the organization will present Lincoln Mayne, a line from Australian-born artist Mayne, and Telfar, the former model who was born in Queens, raised in West Africa and is now launching his second collection.
The accessories presentation will include jewelry from Rebecca Lau, shoes from Tashkent by Cheyenne, bags from Zefanya and men’s jewelry from Driftwood.
Past participating designers in Gen Art include Rebecca Taylor, Louis Verdad and Zac Posen.
