NEW YORK — A crowd of 195 top industry executives took a pause during the whirl of fashion week on Tuesday and gathered at the Union League Club to salute Marc Pritchard and Stephen Sadove at Beyond Beauty’s second annual dinner, the cosmetics industry’s fund-raiser for the James E. Marshall OCD Foundation.
Cover Girl spokesmodel Molly Sims was on hand to present the Beyond Beauty recognition to Pritchard, president of global cosmetics and hair colorants for Procter & Gamble. Quoting Cover Girl’s mission statement of “beauty that goes beyond external,” Sims said, “For Marc, it’s not just a campaign slogan.”
“I believe that when it comes to beauty there is a strong connection between the heart and mind,” said Pritchard. “Positive emotion is truly the soul of beauty.”
Coty Inc. chief financial officer Michael Fishoff presented Sadove, chief executive officer of Saks Inc., with his award, calling him “a difference maker.”
Sadove said he had become involved with the foundation after watching Linda Marshall cope with her son James’ debilitating obsessive compulsive disorder.
The foundation was formed in honor of the late son of Marshall, president of Elysée Scientific Cosmetics. James died nearly four years ago from effects of OCD. The dinner raised $120,000 to benefit genetic research into the cause of OCD and to raise awareness about the condition.
