Moschino has a new home at Bergdorf Goodman.
The Italian label now has a 350-square-foot concept shop on the third floor at the Fifth Avenue Manhattan retailer. The company used to have a smaller space on the floor but the new one occupies prime real estate, right near the up escalator.
Moschino ready-to-wear is the main attraction, with early bestsellers being a $1,290 taupe-and-black tartan plaid dress and a $1,490 navy-and-green tartan bouclé sleeveless dress with taffeta trim, according to a Moschino spokeswoman.
Bergdorf’s is also selling some exclusive items, such as a $3,280 ivory chiffon ruffled-hem wrap dress with ecru embroidery and a $2,520 black wool mélange coat with taffeta closures.
Next month, Moschino’s creative director Rossella Jardini will celebrate the opening of the boutique with a cocktail party and dinner at Bergdorf’s, as well as the first U.S. trunk show for the spring collection right off the Milan runway. She has a long history with the company: Jardini joined Moschino in 1984 as an assistant to Franco Moschino for the primary line Moschino Couture! and head of the accessories collection. The late designer gradually involved her with all the collections, as other lines were created. This will be her first visit to New York in more than a decade, according to a company spokeswoman.
Moschino plans to remodel its concept shop at Saks Fifth Avenue’s New York flagship at the beginning of next year.
