NEW YORK — Sabine Le Chatelier, deputy fashion director of Première Vision, highlighted key fabrics trends for fall 2015 in a seminar at the PV New York show. She said shape and volume are essential for weavers, who are learning to sort and select a wider range of materials.
Among the highlights in women’s wear were:
• Expanded volume: Hairy fabrics such as fake and real fur, as well as alpaca and mohair in outerwear. Double-faced fabrics often combining wools and synthetics, and bonded tweeds for ready-to-wear and sportswear.
• 3-D: Fabrics and yarns that create density and folded effects, such as bonded wool on jersey, silky pleated fabrics, embossed textures, layering and geometric lace patterns.
• Ultramatte: Fluid, doughy and malleable fabrics with subtle texture for jackets and sweatshirts.

• Bold fantasy: Fancy wools, jacquards, printed felts and tweeds, and simplified decorations in coats and rtw.
In men’s wear:
• Outdoor: Half-tone flannels, hybrid weights and refined lumber jackets.
• Everyday fantasy: Graphic patterns, indigo jacquards and printed shirts.
• Dressed-down comfort: Soft woolens and knits with a woven feel.
• Sporty fluidity: Microfibers, fast dry and moisture transfer materials, along with pale colors, bleached denim and performance wools.
