NEW YORK — Stacey DiPersia has been named president at Generra, the women’s and men’s contemporary sportswear brand here.
In the newly created post, DiPersia reports to Dan Shamdasani, chief executive officer of Public Clothing, the holding company of Generra. She will be responsible for all aspects of operations, merchandising, sales, marketing and manufacturing. DiPersia joins Generra from Donna Karan International, where she was senior vice president of merchandising and product development. DKI executives couldn’t be reached for comment on her successor.
Previously, DiPersia was the vice president, divisional merchandising manager at Bergdorf Goodman. She was responsible for managing all aspects of the American designer, gold range and private label divisions. DiPersia began her career at Barneys New York, where she held posts in both buying and managing domestic and European designers.
“There are no big plans to change things here,” DiPersia said Tuesday. “An incredible foundation has been put in place, and I’m here to build on that foundation based on what’s been started.”
Public Clothing acquired Generra in 2002 from Generra Holding Co., a licensing operation created after Generra’s bankruptcy in 1994. Originally based in Seattle, Generra was well known in the Eighties for its youth-inspired sportswear.
The Generra collection is designed by Tony Melillo.
