PARIS — Visitors will discover trend forums dotted throughout halls 5 and 6 of Première Vision. Hall 5, for example, will have two areas dedicated to trends in sport and tailoring, as well as the salon’s nascent “New Bests Bistros” space, dedicated to denim.
Each bistro area will be split into a bar, cafe and salon where visitors can watch trend videos and have access to daily data tracking retailer behavior. Dubbed “The Bests,” it will feature an audiovisual synthesis of the most popular colors and fabrics sought each day by buyers. In hall 6, the salon’s “Special Dernières,” or latest news, section will house the newest fabric trends from a number of textile manufacturers.
The general forum in hall 5 will be divided into sections covering the main themes for spring-summer 2008. These include:
Brightening Reality:
Mixing nature and artifice, shiny and matte textures.
Humanizing the city: leaving human imprints in the form of logos, graffiti and poetic city signs.
Pushing creative boundaries.
The pleasure of materiality and weightiness using heavy linens, raw cottons and extra strong denims.
Juxtaposing fineness and density, using fabrics such as cottons, silks, wools and synthetics.
Cultivating Spontaneity:
Accentuating the disturbing, scratchy, harsh, even rough nature of textiles, such as mohair and linen.
Accentuating fluidity to the point of runniness.
Brightening surfaces with touches of sparkle and iridescence.
Elaborating ultralight fabrics.
Inciting Complementaries:
Rediscovering the alliance between people and the elements.
Exploring environmentally respectful production and the balance between organic and chemical.
Vaunting the true-false: transposing natural prints, for example, with man-made versions, or transcribing vegetation, wood and stone through illustration.
