NEW YORK — Verdura pays homage to old Hollywood with its new “Hollywoodland” collection.
On Sept. 1 the fine jewelry brand will re-introduce about 20 styles from the Verdura archives, inspired by Duke Fulco di Verdura’s collaborations with influential actresses and style icons from the Thirties.
The six groupings were named after some of the biggest stars of the decade and Verdura’s muses — including Marlene Dietrich, Greta Garbo, Joan Crawford, Tallulah Bankhead, Tyrone and Annabella Power, and Slim Keith — and offerings include simple curb linked bracelets, beaded tassel necklaces in vivid shades of pink and green, clip-on earrings adorned with colorful semiprecious stones and a diamond encrusted seashell brooch.
“We succeeded in distilling the look of each of these different people down to a mini collection of a few pieces — Joan Crawford couldn’t have been any more different than Greta Garbo. Her look was totally, 100 percent opposite,” Verdura president Nico Landrigan told WWD, adding that the collection’s highlight is the $83,500 yellow gold and diamond “Lily” bracelet, famously worn by Dietrich both on and off screen.

A colleague of Landrigan’s even found a photo of the actress at a Hollywood memorabilia store where she was posing at a nightclub with a French actor — wearing the exact bracelet.
Additionally, the brand is collaborating with Norman Ambrose for his first runway show during New York Fashion Week, on Sept. 12.
