MILAN — Tom Ford International and Marcolin Group have renewed the license for the design, production and distribution of the designer’s eyewear through December 2015.
The contract was renewed well ahead of its expiration date at the end of the year, driven by the fact initial sales forecasts were well surpassed. A sales figure was not revealed.
Tom Ford’s eyewear is carried in 10,000 points of sale worldwide, and the best-selling model is called “Whitney,” which are white plastic shades that cross over in the front.
Besides Ford, Marcolin’s portfolio includes John Galliano, DSquared2, Roberto Cavalli, Kenneth Cole and Tod’s. In 2009, the publicly listed company produced 6 million pairs of glasses in more than 600 styles.
