Orley, the men’s wear collection based in colorful knits, is capitalizing on its growing momentum by launching women’s for fall 2015.
Three years after its debut in 2012, the collection, designed by brothers Matthew and Alex Orley and Matthew’s wife, Samantha Orley, has earned the attention of an influential group of fashion leaders. The collection was the only men’s wear finalist in the 2014 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and is currently a member of the CFDA Incubator. Retailers include Bergdorf Goodman; matchesfashion.com; By George, in Austin; and Journal Standard, in Japan — a list that will hopefully expand with the introduction of the women’s line.
“Women’s is something we have wanted to do for a long time as awareness of the brand has grown,” said Alex Orley. “It just felt like an opportune time to introduce it.”

Both collections will be shown together, Feb. 13, at Lincoln Center. The designers intend to keep a common thread between the men’s and women’s ranges, drawing inspiration from the painter William Merritt Chase for the lineups. The women’s line will begin as a capsule of Italian-made knits, using yarns from Cariaggi and Lanecardate for hand-knit cashmere sweaters, intarsia skirts and jacquard twinsets in leaf and chevron patterns. The palette includes soft blue, ivory, bright green and lemon yellow. Prices range from $545 to $2,495 for ready-to-wear and $195 to $545 for accessories.
