The results of the sixth annual 2012 Undies Awards are in.
The top picks of 40,000 consumers who participated in a survey cosponsored by e-tailers Herroom.com and Hisroom.com focused on several factors: fashion, function and comfort. Men and women from the international marketplace cast their votes for their favorite bras, panties, shapewear, men’s underwear and men’s T-shirts. Top brand names also played a role in shoppers’ preferences and consumers had a chance to nominate their favorite brands, even if they were not listed.
Tomima Edmark, founder of Her Room and His Room, said the awards were created to generate excitement in the sector.

The winners in the women’s category are:
• Favorite Overall Bra (average figure): Wacoal Body by Wacoal T-Back Bra. This Wacoal bra is an interesting winner because it has been on the market since 1997. • Favorite Overall Shapewear: Flexees Fat Free Dressing Tank Top. For the second year in a row, this shapewear tank top was voted favorite shapewear piece. The stretch fabric appears as a traditional tank top while the soft, hidden microfiber liner smooths and shapes the tummy. Providing firm control, it can be worn alone or layered under clothing. It features adjustable straps and is sized S to 3XL.
The winners in the men’s category are:
• Favorite Overall Woven Boxer: Polo Ralph Lauren 3 Pack Woven Boxer. This boxer made of soft, lightweight, woven cotton is available in a variety of colors and prints. The sizes are S to XL.
• Favorite Overall Knit Boxer: 2(x)ist Loose Knit Boxer. A bestselling item, this lightweight knit boxer is made of soft ring-spun combed cotton and has a loose fit at the legs, yet hugs the thighs to prevent ride-up. It has a functional fly with a single button closure while the back has a three-panel structure. Sizes are S to XL.
• Favorite Brief: 2(x)ist Contour Pouch Brief. This 100 percent combed cotton brief in a one-by-one knit has longer legs and a soft, wide waistband that gives a boost of comfort for a custom fit. The fabric wicks away moisture for coolness while tagless construction adds to the comfort. Sizes are S to XL.
• Favorite T-Shirt: Calvin Klein 3 Pack V-Neck. This T-shirt of 100 percent cotton features a slim fit with narrow sleeves and longer length that is helpful for tucking in. Available in black and white, it can be worn under well-tailored shirts or worn alone. The V-neck allows versatility when layering. Sizes are S to XL.
This year, the “Undie Hall of Fame” was introduced to highlight popular undergarments from leading brands that have been acknowledged as an Undie award winner three times.
The winners include the Wacoal Slimline Seamless Bra, Barely There’s Flawless Fit Boyshort Panty, La Perla Sexy Town G-String Panties, Maidenform’s One Fab Fit Strapless Bra, Vanity Fair’s Illumination String Bikini Panties and two styles by Hanky Panky — the Signature Lace Original Rise Thong and the Signature Lace Low Rise Thong.
The Undie Awards are co-sponsored by Andra Group, the parent company of Herroom.com and Hisroom.com. Both sites are offering a 10 percent discount on all Undie Awards winners through June 22.
