Jimmy Carter, the 39th and longest living President of the United States died on Dec. 29, 2024 at the age of 100. Carter was a peanut farmer and an unlikely candidate for any political position. From 1963-1971, he served as state senator of Georgia, and served as governor from 1971-1975 before a successful bid and win as the democratic party candidate for President in 1976. Carter served in the U.S. Naval Academy, advocated for racial equality and poised himself as the most honest candidate for the highest role in the nation.
Serving what was described as one of the most tumultuous terms in the White House, Carter would seal his legacy after his exit. His post-presidency accomplishments engaged peace negotiations. His contributions were recognized with the Noble Peace Prize in 2002. He also forewarned governments about climate change and focused on eradicating disease and homelessness, becoming a major contributor to Habitat for Humanity. Carter was married to Rosalynn Carter for 77 years, theirs was a love story for the ages.
