On Thursday night, a youthful crowd turned up at 99 Scott in Bushwick, ready to boogie for Planned Parenthood.
The organization’s dance party benefit was supported by a host committee that included Patia Borja, Catherine Cohen, Thomas Doherty, Tommy Dorfman, Emira D’Spain, Beanie Feldstein, Porochista Khakpour, Linux, AnnaSophia Robb and Arden Wohl.
Robb wore a custom torso-length red latex-cast of her body, created by designer friend Marcelle Barbosa as a representation of “women, blood and nourishment, life — bans off our bodies,” said Robb.
“As soon as I knew I would be participating in the event we were like, OK, well, we want to make a statement, we want to do something about women’s bodies,” said Robb, noting that her look came together very last minute. “It feels really cool to see people look at it because it is my body, but it also feels like armor,” Robb added. “It almost feels like a welder’s apron, but it’s me, it is my body, so it’s a really interesting separation of what is under versus what I put on top.”

“It’s a thing that people might consider ugly, but it’s for us the most beautiful thing: womanhood and being a woman in general,” said Barbosa of the garment.
Nearby in the venue’s outdoor courtyard, event sponsor Tacombi was serving up tacos and esquites while Rad Power Bikes raffled off one of their bikes nearby to raise money for Planned Parenthood.
“This is my second time being a part of the hosting committee,” said Feldstein, donning a pink suit and standing with a group of friends and her wife Bonnie Chance Roberts. “I just believe in pro choice to my core. My best friend from college is here with me tonight, she works at Planned Parenthood, and I will never not say yes to what they ask for. It’s such a fun night, such incredible people, and the most important cause.”
