NEW GEM: On Tuesday night, Aurélie Bidermann celebrated the designer milestone du jour: retail. The French jeweler opened up shop in SoHo, her first New York boutique, in late August and finally found time to squeeze in a dinner to consecrate the space. Held on one of the first actually cold nights in recent memory, dinner guests ducked into the snug basement of Lafayette restaurant — a wise geographical choice, as the store is just a block south. “What I like a lot about Lafayette is it’s a very local street, it’s not a touristy place,” said a caped Bidermann, who had walked to the restaurant after a pre-dinner toast at her boutique. “To me, it’s kind of a historied street.”
The scenester set — Hannah Bronfman, Diana Picasso, Harry Brant, Laure Heriard Dubreuil and Aaron Young, Leandra Medine, Alexandra Richards, Garance Doré, Nate Lowman, Johan Lindeberg, Carlos Mota and Waris Ahluwalia — had come out in full force to see Bidermann’s new home away from home.
