EYES ON SHINOLA: Shinola is expanding its repertoire. The Detroit-based company is currently offering an exclusive selection of Randolph handcrafted sunglasses in all 15 stores and online.
Produced in the U.S. by Randolph Engineering, the Randolph, Mass.-based eyewear manufacturer, the sunglasses will include Randolph’s signature style — the Aviator — which was originally built for the U.S. military. The Shinola logo is placed in black on the interior frame while the signature Shinola Lightning Bolt details lie on the amber temple tips. It is available in a pink lens within a gold frame and a dark blue lens with a black matte frame. The glasses retail for $179.
Another style is the P3 sunglasses, which are retro chic. A gold frame holds a pink lens with the Shinola logo crafted in black on the interior frame. This style also comes in a dark blue lens in black matte frames. The Lightning Bolt detail lies on the temple tips. These sunglasses are also $179.

Interestingly, only 3 percent of all sunglasses in the world are made in the U.S. Randolph, which has been making eyewear in its U.S. factory for over 40 years, produces sunglasses, prescription frames, professional sport shooting eyewear and eyewear for the U.S. military and private industries. Celebrities such as Tom Cruise and Jon Hamm wear the sunglasses.
“This line offers our classic models but with a slight twist that we feel is perfect for eyewear trendsetters. As our eyewear line continues to grow and evolve, we continue to stay mindful of both what’s cutting edge in the industry, and the classic styles and quality our company was founded on,” said Peter Waszkiewicz, president and chief executive officer of Randolph Engineering.
