Robert Sockolov, former chief executive of Rochester Big & Tall, resigned from the board of directors of the Casual Male Retail Group on March 29, according to an SEC filing from the Massachusetts-based retailer.
Sockolov had been a director since 2004 when Rochester was acquired by Casual Male. For two years after the purchase, he served as ceo of the Rochester division.
He had been with Rochester since 1951.
Rochester, the upscale division of Casual Male, has struggled during the recession and the company last year debuted a new hybrid model that brought the more-moderate Casual Male merchandise together with the higher-priced Rochester mix. The hybrids have performed well and Casual Male is now moving ahead with plans to open a superstore concept, Destination XL, that will bring together all of its brands including factory outlets, Shoes XL and Living XL.
