NEW YORK – Michael Kors is taking his spin on luxury to Dallas, where he plans to open a 2,000-square-foot store at the NorthPark Center mall in August.
This will be the first freestanding Michael Kors boutique in the region and the fourth for the company in the U.S. Kors also operates stores on Madison Avenue in Manhattan, Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and at the Americana mall in Manhasset, N.Y.
The Dallas store will be designed by Robin Kramer of Kramer Design Group and will feature a look similar to the Rodeo Drive and Manhasset boutiques. They have features such as a brushed steel and matte stone facade, polished white Thassos marble floors, white linen covered walls and Lucite shelves.
The store will offer select Collection ready-to-wear, as well as accessories from Kors’ Collection label, Michael Michael Kors and Kors Michael Kors.
“Retail is obviously an important component for our overall growth strategy and we intend to increase the number of freestanding stores in key global markets over the next few years,” John Idol, chief executive officer, said in a statement. “NorthPark is the next step in realizing this goal.”
Last December, NorthPark embarked on a two-year, $200 million expansion and renovation, with plans to generate $1 billion in annual volume by the end of 2008. The expansion will add about 260,000 square feet for 110 specialty stores, bringing the number of such stores to 200.
