FOR THE CAUSE: Lizanne Kindler, the chief executive officer of the KnitWell Group, has been named to the board of directors of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
The appointment comes just ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is October.
Knitwell includes Ann Taylor, Chico’s, Lane Bryant, Loft, Talbots, Haven Well Within, Soma and White House Black Market.
Kindler said she admires the Breast Cancer Research Foundation “for its unwavering commitment to advancing life-saving research. This is also an opportunity to further strengthen the partnership between BCRF and KnitWell Group’s brands, which for more than 20 years have stood alongside BCRF in its mission. September marked the return of KnitWell’s Sisterhood of Strength campaign supporting breast cancer research through various means including donations, percentage of sales on certain days and “Cares Cards,” which provides donations to the BCRF and discounts for customers. KnitWell and its customers have raised more than $74 million for the BCRF. As Kindler recently said, “We have all been touched in some way by breast cancer and we believe that by growing our sisterhood of support for BCRF, we will see an end to the disease in our lifetime.”
