Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com said Monday it has opened a new Kidiliz-branded flagship on its cross-border platform JD Worldwide through a deal with French children’s apparel company Groupe Zannier.
JD, Alibaba’s number-one rival, said the store features products from three of Zannier’s brands: Kenzo Kids, Catimini and 3 Pommes.
Last year’s announcement that China is abolishing its one-child policy has sparked interest in baby and family-related businesses in the country. But it’s still unclear how quickly consumers will act to increase the size of their families, particularly as the country’s economic growth slows. China’s economy is forecast to grow at a 6.7 percent pace this year compared with 6.9 percent last year, the World Bank said earlier this month.
Nonetheless, JD seems to have a bullish outlook for the category.
