J. Crew Group said that it narrowed its loss to $8.04 million in the quarter ended April 30, from $462.41 million in the year ago period.
In the 2015 period, the company posted impairment charges of $341 million related to goodwill and $190 million related to the intangible asset for the J. Crew brand name.
Income from operations increased to $7.3 million. In the latest quarter, revenues decreased 2.5 percent to $567.5 million from $581.8 million, with comparable company sales down 6.5 percent.
At the J. Crew brand, revenues decreased 5.5 percent to $480.7 million, with comparable J. Crew sales down 8 percent.
Madewell revenues increased 17.2 percent to $72.5 million, with comparable Madewell sales up 5.9 percent.
During the quarter, the company opened one J.Crew store, two J.Crew Mercantile stores and three Madewell stores.
