As part of its global expansion plan, Nine West Group opened flagships this month in several cities around the world, including Tokyo, Moscow and Hanoi.
The year-end openings are part of a growth initiative that began early this year. Located in premier fashion districts in each city, the new stores will have a boutique environment and feature a specially selected assortment of product, including footwear, accessories and handbags, according to Jones Apparel Group, Nine West’s parent company.
“This international expansion of our retail stores in these prestigious markets will reinforce Nine West as a leading global accessory brand,” said Andrew Cohen, chief executive officer for wholesale footwear and accessories. “The store design will include collections that are indulgent, dramatic and upscale, representing the viewpoints of the Nine West brand and strengthening our global fashion presence.”
The new store design made its Asian debut at the Tokyo unit in the Omotesando shopping district. The Hanoi Nine West, located on Le Thai To, is that city’s first. Russia is getting four new Nine West units, two in St. Petersburg, one in Moscow and one in Nizhny Novgorod.
Nine West broke into the overseas market in Hong Kong in 1994, and through licensing agreements the brand is now sold in more than 60 countries through more than 875 retail locations, including 315 in Asia, 273 in Europe, 131 in the Middle East, 40 in Australia, 22 in Central America, 12 in Africa, 16 in South America and 70 in North America outside the U.S.
