PARIS — Hennes & Mauritz AB will open its first store in the Bulgarian capital Sofia in March 2012, it announced today.
The 23,700-square-foot store will be located in The Mall, the country’s largest shopping center.
“We see this as a natural step in our expansion strategy,” stated Karl-Johan Persson, chief executive officer of H&M. “We see great potential for expansion in the country.”
H&M this year opened its first stores in Romania and Croatia, and plans a net addition of around 250 stores for the 2010-2011 financial year as a whole, with China, the U.K. and the United States slated to be the largest expansion markets.
