NEW YORK — Dell reached out to the fashion conscious Tuesday with a colorful line of laptops, sleek silver desktops and large flat-screen monitors that it unveiled at an event at Macy’s Herald Square. The Inspiron laptops start at $749 and come in eight colors, including spring green, sunshine yellow and flamingo pink. Desktop models start at $349.
“It’s a fashion event with all the eight colors,” said Elina Kazan, Macy’s media director. “It’s a chance for us to create something exciting. Macy’s is an international platform.”
Macy’s stopped carrying consumer electronics years ago and will not sell the Dell laptops, but it houses a J&R Electronics store. The Dell systems will be on display at Macy’s around the country for two weeks and consumers can order them directly from Dell.
