Erik Nordstrom, co-president of Nordstrom Inc., will deliver the keynote address at the 77th commencement ceremony of LIM College on May 25 at Carnegie Hall in Manhattan.
Nordstrom will receive an honorary Doctor of Commercial Science Degree and LIM College’s Distinguished Achievement Award. An honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree will be presented to Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney as well.
“Working his way up through all aspects of his company’s businesses represents an impressive career in the business of fashion,” said LIM president Elizabeth S. Marcuse.
From 2000 to 2014, when Nordstrom was president of stores, the company added 46 Nordstrom doors, laid out expansion plans that included the company’s first stores in Canada, Puerto Rico and New York, and grew revenue from about $5 billion to nearly $8 billion.
In his current role, Nordstrom and his team work to enhance the customer experience on nordstrom.com, which in 2014 generated $2 billion in sales. Nordstrom has been involved in many digital initiatives, including the acquisitions of HauteLook and Trunk Club and the launch of nordstromrack.com.
