PARIS — Louis Vuitton has acquired Geneva-based watch dial manufacturer Léman Cadran in a further bid secure its supply chain.
The Swiss company, which employs 10 people, was already a supplier for Vuitton watches, and will continue to supply parts to other companies, Vuitton said.
The acquisition follows that of Swiss watch dial manufacturer ArteCad SA last November and high-end watch workshop La Fabrique du Temps in July 2011.
The move also mirrors similar steps by other players in the luxury watch industry as manufacturers seek to snap up their suppliers as demand in emerging markets creates a bottleneck.
Earlier this week, La Montre Hermès revealed it was in discussions to acquire a stake in high-end watch dial manufacturer Natéber SA, as reported.
