Chubb 3rd, president of Oxford Industries Inc., has been elected to its board, expanding the body to 10 from nine.
Chubb fills a longtime vacancy on the Oxford board. He becomes its second non-independent director, joining J. Hicks Lanier, chairman and chief executive officer, in that category.
Joining Oxford as a summer intern in 1988, he served as the firm’s vice president, general counsel and secretary from 1999 until 2004, when he was promoted to executive vice president. He was appointed president of Oxford in 2009.
“Tom was heavily involved in the acquisitions of Tommy Bahama, Ben Sherman and, most recently, Lilly Pulitzer, as well as two key divestitures, all transactions which were critical to the transformation of Oxford,” said Lanier. “In his capacity as our president, he provides oversight for the operations of Lilly Pulitzer, Ben Sherman and Lanier Clothes, as well as for our corporate services organization. The election of Tom to our board is an affirmation of his continuing contributions to our company and his role as an ambassador of Oxford’s culture.”
Oxford acquired Tommy Bahama in 2003, Ben Sherman in 2004 and Lilly Pulitzer in 2010. Together, the three brands accounted for $194.1 million, or 84.1 percent, of Oxford’s $231 million in first-quarter revenues this year. The firm sold most of the assets of its Oxford Apparel group to Li & Fung in 2011 while retaining the Oxford Golf business.
