MILAN — Kering and Vogue Italia have teamed up for the third time to renew the Vogue Talents initiative, offering internships at the luxury brands that are part of the French group in Italy. In addition to previous participants Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Brioni, Pomellato and Dodo, four additional labels have joined the project: Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga and Stella McCartney. Kering Eyewear and the corporate offices of Kering have also stepped in.
To celebrate the launch of “Empower Talents 3,” Kering and Vogue Italia are holding a cocktail at Milan’s Palazzo Morando this evening hosted by Franca Sozzani, editor in chief of Vogue Italia, and François-Henri Pinault, Kering chairman and chief executive officer.
The project has also extended the internships to additional sectors, including public relations, communications and media relations, merchandising, product development, digital, retail, marketing and legal services. The list of internship positions will be posted on vogue.it today. Candidates will have until Nov. 15 to submit their applications, and the internships will begin between November and next January.

Belén Essioux-Trujillo, senior vice president of human resources at Kering, said that “for young people just starting out in luxury, the exposure provided by Empower Talent is invaluable. The number of internships available each year at Kering is limited, but Empower Talent candidates who make it to the short list stay on our books. Our recruiters frequently maintain contact with these people and consider them for opportunities as they arise in the group.”
Essioux-Trujillo provided examples of the flexibility of Kering’s approach to the candidates and their potential.
“In 2013, Gucci had to choose between two qualified candidates for a single internship opportunity. Rather than turn away the candidate not selected by the brand, our Empower Talents Recruitment Team identified another opportunity suited to this person’s skill set. She turned out to be a perfect match for Pomellato,” he said. “In another case we placed a marketing intern at one of our watch and jewelry brands. That internship was underway when a new opportunity in sales became available at the brand. Based on her competencies this intern was encouraged by her manager to change departments, which she did. She was later offered a permanent position in sales.”
Pinault defined the Empower Talents “a great success.”
“We are delighted with the promising talent identified through the partnership and the opportunity we were able to give these young people, to evolve within some of the most prestigious brands of our group,” he said. “Our collaboration with a partner as committed and legitimate as Vogue Italia reflects Kering’s core values and priority towards young talent. I am happy to offer once again talented young candidates the opportunity to learn, express their creativity and grow within our brands.”
“Young people are our future, and they need concrete support and opportunities to express their abilities and make their dreams come true,” said Sozzani, adding that the additional Kering brands to the project proves that Empower Talents “is a project we can believe in for years to come.”
