Delta Galil Industries brought Gil Shimon, chief executive officer of Tefron, back into its own executive ranks to take on a new global role.
The Tel Aviv-based company, which owns brands such as Seven For All Mankind, Splendid and Ella Moss, named Shimon as the president of its global upper-market business segment, where he will oversee about $270 million in business.
Shimon worked at Delta Galil for nearly 20 years before leaving in 2011 for intimate and activewear producer Tefron.
Delta Galil ceo Isaac Dabah said Shimon “brings with him a proven track record of international operations and marketing in intimate apparel and activewear. As global upper markets continue to be an important business segment, and a strong contributor to our sales, Gil’s expertise in both our company and the overall industry will be instrumental in maximizing our opportunities for future growth.”
Shimon is taking over the global position from Shlomo Doron, who oversaw upper-market sales and operations and left Delta Galil about a year ago.

Shimon, however, will be responsible for the division’s sales and marketing, as well as for its future strategy. During the four years before he left Delta Galil, Shimon managed the company’s socks and seamfree business units, where he increased turnover and led advances in production, marketing and corporate development.
Shimon’s role as Tefron’s ceo is now in the hands of Ben Lieberman, a majority stakeholder and chair of the company. Tefron’s replacement for Shimon as ceo could not be immediately determined.
