WASHINGTON — Joshua Teitelbaum, a Congressional aide to Sen. Kay Hagan (D., N.C.), confirmed on Friday what industry sources said earlier this week, that he is joining the Commerce Department as deputy assistant secretary for textiles, consumer goods and materials.
“After nearly six years on Capitol Hill, today will be my last day with Senator Hagan,” Teitelbaum said in a widely distributed e-mail to colleagues obtained by WWD. “It has been an incredibly rewarding experience to work for her and in the Senate, and I will miss it dearly. I’m confident that she’ll have an office here long after Nov. 4.”
He most recently served as staff director on the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee’s subcommittee on children and families, which Hagan chairs and also held the title of legislative assistant on trade and health care, according to Hagan’s office.
Teitelbaum went on to say he will be joining the Commerce Department in the new position of deputy assistant secretary overseeing three areas, including textile policy. The position also doubles as chair of the Interagency Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements.
