NEW YORK — Harvé Benard Ltd. appears to have found a buyer. Wellington Capital, an investment banking group formed in the last year, is in the final stages of acquiring the apparel manufacturer, according to a source close to the deal.
Harvé Benard is a $100 million apparel firm that produces women’s better sportswear, outerwear, suits and dresses under the Harvé Benard brand. In business since 1967, the company made its first two acquisitions this year. In January it purchased sportswear and outerwear firm New Frontier, and in April it acquired bridge firm GarfieldMarks. Wellington Capital likely will license out the apparel production.
Harvé Benard president Bernard Holtzman declined comment Tuesday, and Wellington Capital, which has offices in the Empire State Building here, could not be reached.
