PARIS – Hennes & Mauritz AB said same-store sales improved in November, helping to propel sales for the financial year as a whole up 5 percent.
The rise in same-store sales during the company’s 2009/2010 financial year, which runs from Dec. 1 to Nov. 30, compared with a 5 percent decrease in 2008/2009, the Stockholm-based firm announced. Including new stores, total sales for the year were up 15 percent, compared with a 4 percent rise the previous year.
Same-store sales increased 8 percent in November, compared to a 3 percent rise in October. Including new stores, total revenues for the month of November grew 17 percent, compared with 13 percent in the previous month.
The November figure compared with a 9 percent drop in same-store sales in the same month last year. As of Nov. 30, the Swedish fast-fashion retailer operated 2,206 stores, compared to 1,988 on Nov. 30, 2009.
