LONDON — Europe’s markets were on the rise in midmorning trading on Thursday as oil crude prices made gains.
London’s FTSE 100 advanced 1.6 percent to 5,933.13, followed by the DAX in Frankfurt, which increased 0.8 percent to 9,514.76. Paris’ CAC 40 climbed 0.6 percent to 4,253.67, and Milan’s FTSE MIB was up 0.7 percent to 17,528.34.
The pound was trading at $1.44, while the euro fetched $1.09 and the Swiss franc equaled $1 at 11:30 a.m. CET.
Retail and luxury stocks were mostly up, with stocks gaining ground including Yoox Net-a-porter Group, 2.3 percent to 28.03 euros; Mulberry Group, 2.2 percent to 9.80 pounds, and Marks & Spencer Group, 1.8 percent to 4.20 pounds.
Among the fallers was MySale Group, down 2.4 percent to 0.46 pounds. Koovs and Unilever each declined 0.8 percent, to 0.17 pounds and 39 euros, respectively.
