LONDON — European stock markets were uneven in morning trading on Tuesday.
The FTSE 100 in London and the DAX in Frankfurt were both up, climbing 0.2 percent to 5,700.87 and to 8,994.70, respectively. The FTSE MIB in Milan was down 0.6 percent to 16,344.11, while the CAC 40 in Paris fell 0.2 percent to 4,059.61.
The euro traded at $1.11, while the pound fetched $1.45 and the Swiss franc equaled $1.00 at 12:05 p.m. CET.
Retail and luxury stocks were uneven, with the morning’s biggest risers including Tesco, 2.9 percent to 1.78 pounds; Next, 1.9 percent to 65.55 pounds, and Beiersdorf, 1.2 percent to 79.94 euros.
Among the stocks that lost the most ground were Aeffe, 5.8 percent to 1.13 euros; Brunello Cucinelli, 2.6 percent to 14 euros; Tod’s, 3.2 percent to 67.70 euros, and Mulberry Group, 2.6 percent to 9.49 pounds.
