French biotech skin care brand Orveda is making major moves in New York’s luxury scene this year. The Coty Inc.-licensed brand opened its first flagship boutique in the U.S. on Madison Avenue in mid-September inviting consumers to engage with and experience the brand in person.
A two-story boutique and stand-alone spa, Maison Orveda New York has been designed to offer guests an opportunity to explore the connection between the art and luxury worlds as a cultural hub. While the spa is home to three treatment rooms for signature facials, a larger event space is where education, beauty and cultural enrichment come together. Orveda plans to host everything from masterclasses in longevity science to inspiring art exhibitions.
Andrea DiNunzio, general manager of luxury skin care at Coty, described Maison Orveda New York as “an oasis on Madison Avenue, designed to offer guests a holistic journey through technologically advanced skin care, exquisitely crafted fragrances and curated art. Maison Orveda New York creates an exclusive, engaging environment reinforcing the brand’s dedication to transformative, science-driven luxury.”
On Nov. 13, DiNunzio joined Amanda Smith, chief executive officer of Fairchild Media Group, and Jenny B. Fine, editor in chief of Beauty Inc and executive editor of beauty at WWD, in hosting beauty lovers and friends of Orveda to get a first look at Maison Orveda New York’s first artist in residence exhibition, “Folds of Dreams” from artist and co-curator Annu Yadav.
“We were thrilled to welcome guests for an evening that celebrates artistry, innovation and holistic well-being,” said DiNunzio. “This dinner marked an important step in deepening Orveda’s connection with the art community, within a space where advanced skin care, fragrance and art converge in a uniquely immersive environment.”
Moreover, DiNunzio told WWD that she was thrilled to see the evening bring forth and “inspire rich dialogue and lasting connections,” which she hopes to see continue.
In “Folds of Dreams”, which opened to the public on Nov. 21, Yadav’s art explores layers that serve as “both a barrier and an invitation, exploring the complexity of feminine existence through the nuanced act of looking.” The narratives within the pieces, said Yadav, are “drawn from personalized cultural symbolism, entrenched in dreamscapes connecting Indian vernacular to the modern esoteric. Femininity is both concealed and revealed, a dance of light and shadow that speaks to desire, restraint and the inherited symbols that shape who we are and how we are seen.”
As part of the company’s vision for Maison Orveda New York, DiNunzio said the Orveda team is “excited to continue celebrating artists whose work aligns with our vision, enriching the Maison Orveda experience, offering clients a space that is constantly renewed and culturally vibrant.”
