At the 2026 Watches and Wonders, TAG Heuer is unveiling two of its most notable evolutions of the company’s renowned watch, the TAG Heuer Monaco.
In reflection of TAG Heuer’s watchmaking prowess, the Monaco Evergraph has introduced the new chronograph caliber, TH80-00 — with flexible bistable components instead of traditional levers and springs.
Nicholas Biebuyck, heritage director of TAG Heuer, told Fairchild Studio that the TH80-00 showcases how avant-garde engineering advances a complication that has been around for more than 100 years.
The new chronograph mechanism is a remarkable achievement for TAG Heuer, he continued. The technology was produced using high-precision LIGA technology, with the flexible structures allowing for crisp and consistent chorographical functions and a reduction of complexity.
In tandem, the new Monaco Chronograph is powered by the in-house caliber TH20-11. This timepiece revisits the original 1969 TAG Heuer Monaco with a redesigned case, ergonomic improvements and updated movement architecture.
With its refinement of the square design, the Monaco Chronograph showcases a more ergonomic case and integrates the TH20-11 movement to provide more than 80 hours of power reserve.
Biebuyck pointed to the introduction of the TAG Heuer Monaco watch in 1969 as an innovative moment in the industry, as a square, water-resistant timepiece and one of the first watches powered by an automatic chronograph movement as a result of its collaboration known as Project 99.
While the latest Monaco Chronograph pays homage to the historical codes of the watchmakers, the Monaco Evergraph is a reflection of the pioneering drive that crafted the original timepiece.
“The TAG Heuer Monaco has always been one of the most powerful symbols of TAG Heuer’s spirit of innovation and these new watches continue that legacy while expressing it in a contemporary way. Its bold geometry, left-side crown and association with motorsport culture quickly made it one of the most recognizable watches in the industry. Together, these watches illustrate two complementary directions of exploring new mechanical frontiers and refining an iconic chronograph for modern everyday wear,” concluded Biebuyck.
